In this group project, DETA 5230 students were challenged to take an existing activewear brand and expand their offering into a new sport. our group took dime mtl's skatewear brand and developed a golf line. this line is for the golfer who's passionate for the sport, but approaches his golf apparel more casually.
The concept:
Both skateboarding and golf reward individuality and demand discipline to master. the golf course is a natural space for self-expression and Counter-culture brands are moving in as golf's gatekeeping fades.
Dime's elevated, timeless aesthetic translates perfectly to the fairway.
The line:
Modern, loose silhouettes inspired by Dime’s baggy chinos and oversized tees. Breathable, flexible, quick-dry fabrics with Pacific Northwest weather-ready features (water-resistant layering). Subtle skate graphics, muted earth tones (ash, sepia, olive), and playful details. Versatile pieces: relaxed pants with drawstrings, graphic polos, cropped hoodies, flat-brim caps. Goal: Boost confidence, express dual passions, and stand out on the course.
The Goal:
A Dime golf collection that feels like streetwear on the fairway – comfortable enough for a full round or a quick skate session afterward.
The prototype: long sleeve Windbreaker
The long sleeve windbreaker is part of the light outerwear offering from the dime x golf collection. constructed of 100% nylon ripstop, with rib knit cuffs, hem and v-neck, this piece is designed to layer with other elements to keep the golfer comfortable from crisp morning tee-offs to warm afternoons on the patio to enjoy a 19th hole beer.
